David Schwarz

David Schwarz is in his fifth season as the head coach for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Women's Tennis program in 2018-19. In the past three seasons, Coach Schwarz’s Athenas have earned three straight SCIAC titles and are the current NCAA Division 3 NCAA defending champions

Prior to coming to CMS, Coach Schwarz was at Brown University aas the men’s coach and was the most successful men’s tennis coach in program history at Middlebury, sending the school to its first NCAA postseason appearance. In 10 seasons at Middlebury, he had an overall record of 174-37 (.825), while leading the Panthers to national prominence. Under Schwarz’s guidance, Middlebury made eight-straight trips to the NCAA final four, with the 2004 squad capturing the school’s first NCAA Tennis national title. His success that season earned him the ITA Coach of the Year. Schwarz’s 2006 and 2007 teams set school records at the time, with 22 wins each season.

 

 

Mike Morgan

Mike Morgan is in his second year at the Pomona Pitzer Colleges.  Morgan spent the previous 11 years heading the Middlebury women's tennis program and coming off of a 2017 season where his squad went undefeated as NESCAC Regular Season Champions. The Pomona Pitzer team is currently the 4th ranked team in the country and were the ITA National Indoor Finalists for 2018.

Morgan’s tenure at Middlebury included NCAA quarterfinals appearances in 2007, 2013, and 2015 while his last two seasons ended in the NCAA semifinals. Morgan also produced an NCAA Singles National Champion in 2013 and earned ITA National Coach of the Year honors in 2013 and is a three-time NESCAC Coach of the Year (2008, 2016, 2017).

Morgan returns to the Claremont area after he previously began his Division III coaching career across the street at Claremont-Mudd-Scripp where he captured one SCIAC Championship in 2003 and coached a doubles team to a National Championship in 2002.  Prior to Claremont, Coach Morgan was an assistant coach at the University of Notre Dame for 3 seasons.
